We are pleased to announce that we have been awarding funding from KCC Kent Creatives to run the initial phase of our Youth Board project!
We want to make Beach Creative more attractive to our younger generation, but also address providing for its future in the years to come.
The Project
To recruit and train a group of young people living in Herne Bay to learn to devise and manage their own creative projects. You may have ideas about what you might want to happen in your town, but this project could give you the knowledge and understanding as to how to make it happen for real.
Application process
The application process will involve you having an idea for a project – an event maybe, or performance or a resource for the town to appeal to young people. The selected young people will pitch their idea to a panel of artists and business/events people and the selected young people will be invited to take part in eight sessions with industry experts to learn how they would development their ideas in a ‘live project’ situation.
The project will develop along the lines of ‘The Apprentice’ with elements of ‘Dragon’s Den’ thrown in! Selected young people will be invited to join the Youth Board at Beach Creative and be a part of our community with a real voice in how we develop for the future. We are hoping to secure funding for one or more of our group to see their project come to life.
Who should apply?
We are not necessarily looking for traditional high-flyers or ‘the usual suspects.’ Aretha Franklin, Alan Sugar, Richard Branson, Maxine McCarthy started from school at 16. What we are looking for is individuality, energy, passion, creativity and IDEAS. So, don’t write yourself off, before you’ve had a go – we certainly won’t. You should be aged 16-21. Training sessions will take place in the Summer vacation.
